When will registration open and how much does it cost?
Registration for the retreat opened on January 1st and will close on January 15th at 8:00 PM PST. This is a ticketed event so registration is required. While registration is free for Code Switch youth leaders, educator fellows, and select guests, there is a nominal but discounted fee for members, friends, and family. We will also accept donations on a sliding scale for those who wish to offset costs for girls involved with Code Switch programs.
What kind of retreat tickets are available?
Attendees can purchase the following ticket types:
What is included with registration?
Your registration includes breakfast, morning and afternoon snacks, a small stipend of $20 for lunch, all workshops and activities, and a swag bag full of goodies. If you chose the Saturday and Sunday Package, it also includes lodging for Saturday night as well as Sunday morning activities.
Do I have to attend all of the retreat?
Attendance for the entire retreat is necessary for Educator Fellows and Code Switch team members and strongly encouraged for all seeking to maximize their experience in community with us, however, how long one attends is their choice..
Why is this retreat important?
The retreat is specifically focused on transforming teaching, leadership, and learning for Black girls and their gender expansive peers in ways that align with and emphasize restorative justice education, healing engaged practice, gender equity, and racial justice. Local educators and the girls they will work alongside are provided with an experience focused on nurturing joy, curating healing and mental wealth, and cultivating an inclusive, culturally relevant and sustaining school climate and culture situated in restorative justice education.
What is the suggestion for dress?
Attendees are encouraged to dress casual and comfy, given we will participate in several embodied and mindfulness exercises like African dance, Yoga, walking, outdoor activities, indoor movement, etc. We encourage athleisure wear and bringing layers for changing temperatures and short walks outside. You might also want to bring a change of clothes if you feel it will be necessary after dance or yoga. Consult the day's agenda to determine the best approach to dress for you.
What do I need to bring with me?
Bring your beautiful self, a positive attitude and disposition, and a readiness to curate joy, and we'll take care of the rest.
