Opening Sankofa Sister Circle
9:45 AM - 11:30 AM
Join us for a restorative welcome and community-building circle meant to provide an opportunity for retreat participants to establish connection and community with each other. We'll open with a land tribute, community welcome, Sankofa moment, mindfulness exercise, and artistic expression, to be followed by story sharing and talking circle rounds, before closing our morning circle out with a poetic selection. And just in case the morning circle isn't enough joy making, we'll transition to a few more joy making exercises and our morning self-care break before jumping into the morning wisdom exchange.
Morning Wisdom Exchange
12:30 PM - 1:15 PM
Setting the foundation for our time together, Co-Directors, Dr. Tonya and Naika will work alongside Code Switch youth leaders to facilitate an interactive session titled, "Leading with Code Switch". Meant to acclimate newcomers to the Code Switch Community, as well as update current community members on all things Code Switch happenings, this session is part strategizing, part community-building with a dash of power building and a lil' bit of self-care through collective care too. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how they can engage with the Code Switch community.
Lunch: Sisterhood Shenanigans
1:30 PM - 2:30 PM
Even lunch is a time to build community, curate joy, and love on one another. It's why we'll be working our magic to place folx in mentorship pods for the lunch hour. In addition to finding a spot in the nearby District to lunch, mentorship pods will have a surprise action task meant to be shared when they're back with the group. We're good at keeping surprises so no spoilers. You will have to be there to see how it all goes down! Don't miss it fam'!
Afternoon Wisdom Exchange
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM PST
We are excited to have the young women from More Than A Hashtag join us for this interactive workshop titled, "More Than A Workshop" and focused on youth-led movement making. Focused on exploring how we can apply abolitionist principles in our everyday lives as students, members in our community and our personal relationships, this workshop will challenge us to revision what our schools, community and personal lives would look like if we use these principles.
Joy Making Session: Afrobeats
3:45 PM - 4:30 PM
Grab your workout clothes and join us for some fun movement as we follow Code Switch family member Acacia's lead to learn how to move those hips. As we learn the choreography, we will also explore how these cultural dance moves connect us to the indigenous healing practices of our historical legacy as Black people. Prepare to talk wellness, body positivity, and self-care, including exploring how wellness is connected to liberation. Finally, be ready to let your body be free as we push back on the misnomer that there is only one size, and one look to being healthy! To give us some time to freshen up, we'll have a 30 minute self-care break following our Afrobeat session.

Community Panel: Leading for Justice through Restorative Advocacy
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Following Afrobeats, we'll venture back to the justice side, as we engage in restorative dialogue with an intergenerational panel of community leaders who will discuss their work to advance justice for our girls. Shaped by the theme, 'Go, Grow, Glo' this three-part panel will share their 'why' stories as well as lessons learned and insights gained. Our Code Switch youth leaders will help curate this important discussion with our guests. Watch this space for photos and bios.
Closing Sankofa Sister Circle
6:00 PM - 6:30 PM
We will celebrate the end of our restorative journey together by sharing our artistic expressions created during the morning circle. Then, youth leaders will guide us in closing our day with a final restorative moment designed to uplift us as we prepare to head into self-care time, then dinner with our mentorship pods before closing out the evening with late night shenanigans.
